iMatter – Empowering Young Parents
WORKSHOP THREE | Messy Makers
Children are active learners through play. From birth through to early childhood, children use their senses to explore and try to make sense of the world around them. Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world through ‘sensory play’ is crucial to brain development – it helps to build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways.
Messy and sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. Sensory play has a wide range of benefits including supporting cognitive growth, problem solving skills, language development and social skills.
Messy Makers programmes are designed and delivered by qualified and dedicated Early Educators. Messy Makers’ goal is to build and improve upon children’s fine and gross motor skills, encourage problem solving, team work and cognitive development.
We suggest wearing clothes to a session that you don’t mind getting marked. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes. Please let us know if your child has any dietary requirements so the experience can be taste-safe for your child.
